The great truth of the Bible is that God knows you and loves you.
Our Bible reading this week has taken us to what many consider the most boring part of the Bible. It’s the nine chapters in 1 Chronicles….. that long list of genealogies. We’ve read some of the well-known names before but this list includes many obscure people.
Why would it be important to have all those names listed? What is the point?
Our local paper listed names of those who made the score sheet in our high school basketball games. Even if it was just one point, recognition was given.
The Creator of heaven and earth recognizes you!
Genealogies meant proof for land and inheritance in Bible days. Those hard to pronounce, obscure names were entitled to riches.
Oh Lord you have searched me and you know me. Psalm 139:1 The sons of Ulam were brave warriors who could handle the bow.
He named him Beriah because there had been misfortune in his family.
Sons were born to Shaharaim after he had divorced his wives Hushim and Baara.
Heman, the musician.
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. Lots of times in life the issues seem unbearable. It can seem like nobody is watching and nobody cares.
Somehow, in the huge heart of God, he has a clear memory of you……your name……your background…..your career……your issues.
And somehow, beyond my ability to describe he considers you his beloved.
With God everybody counts. Be encouraged! MB
