Our church is hosting a food packing opportunity through the Christian-based organization, IDES (International Disaster Emergency Service) on February 3rd & 4th. We are aiming to pack and package 60,000 GAP food meals, so that they are ready for IDES to send to disaster areas around the world, when needed.
We’re inviting you to consider rallying friends (maybe even an entire group of 10) to come help fill and package these bag meals for one (or as many as you’d like) of the following time slots (see below). Each food packing line takes at least 10 people to execute all of the steps of the meal packing. Community groups, sports team groups, youth groups, service teams, or any group of 10 people of all ages would be suitable for this kind of activity.
Older elementary aged children and older can easily find a role in the meal packing line (even those who are elderly can find a role that can be done from a seated position). Parents with younger children are welcome to participate, but we suggest spouses take turns trading on and off between tending to young ones and meal packing. Solo participants are also welcome to join (we will help situate you with 9 others in a meal packing line).
The participating times available are:
Saturday, February 3rd — 9am-noon
Sunday, February 4th — Worship: 10am, Food Pack: 11:00am-2:30pm
If you're helping on Saturday, please arrive by 9am and meet us in the church sanctuary for instructions regarding the food packing.
If you're helping on Sunday, please join us for worship at 10am and then food packing instructions at 11am in the church sanctuary.
We still have room for more people to serve, so invite your friends, neighbors, co-workers to join you. The more the merrier!
